  A group of 34 migrants have been brought ashore after the UK Border Force intercepted a boat in the Channel. The group of people, whose nationalities are not yet known, were brought to shore at Dover by a coastal patrol vessel and given blankets.

  Emiliano Sala body recovered from the wrecked plane in the English Channel

  

  The body recovered from the wreckage of a crashed plane is that of Cardiff City player Emiliano Sala, Dorset Police have said. Sala, 28, was travelling to Cardiff in a plane piloted by David Ibbotson, which went missing over the English Channel on 21 January. The body was recovered late on Wednesday after the wreckage was found on Sunday morning.

  Wreckage from a plane carrying Cardiff City footballer Emiliano Sala has been discovered in the English Channel. The Piper Malibu N264DB was lost on 21 January on its way from Nantes, France to Cardiff, with the Argentine striker and pilot David Ibbotson on board.

  Royal Navy patrol ship has been sent to the English Channel to deter migrant crossings, the Ministry of Defense has confirmed. Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson said HMS Mersey would “help prevent migrants from making the dangerous journey”.

  Illegal migrants: UK redeploys patrol vessels from Mediterranean to the Channel

  

  An Iranian national and a British man have been arrested on suspicion of arranging the “illegal movement of migrants” across the English Channel. The National Crime Agency said the 33-year-old Iranian and 24-year-old Briton were held in Manchester. It comes after the government redeployed patrol vessels from the Mediterranean amid concerns over a rising number of crossings.

  Busy Christmas: UK rescues illegal immigrants in the English Channel

  

  Forty migrants, including two children, have been rescued from boats in five separate incidents on Christmas Day in the English Channel. Lifeboats and a coastguard helicopter intercepted a boat carrying 12 people and a child off the coast of Deal, Kent, at about 04:30 GMT. And a girl was one of eight who arrived in Folkestone at about 02:40 GMT.

  Scallop war over: French and UK fishermen reach an agreement

  

  French and British fishermen agreed Monday to end their battle over access to scallop-rich waters in the English Channel, three weeks after the long-simmering conflict flared into a high-seas confrontation. The new deal is hoped to bring to a close the years-long “Scallop Wars” over fishing the prized mollusks in the fertile waters off the Baie de Seine area of Normandy in northwest France.
