  Falklands oil development: update on the consultation on Sea Lion offshore field

  

  On Tuesday 2 July 2024 it was announced that Navitas Petroleum Development and Production Ltd (Navitas) issued a revised Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) concerning its proposals for the drilling of oil wells and offshore production from the Sea Lion Field Northern Development Area, Phase 1 and 2.

  The Israeli/US company preparing to extract oil from Falkland Islands waters, Navitas Petroleum Development and Production Ltd. (Navitas) has issued a revised Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) concerning its proposals for the drilling of oil wells and offshore production from the Sea Lion Field Northern Development Area, Phase 1 and 2, which includes additional information on atmospheric emissions.

  Falklands' oil company lays out plans for production: 85.000 bpd at peak output

  

  At peak oil production from the Falkland Islands offshore Sea Lion oil field, Premier Oil is hoping for 85,000 barrels of oil per day. Over 20 years they anticipate 255 million barrels of oil in a medium-case scenario.

  What does the Premier Environmental Impact Statement say about the Sealion Oil Field Development to the North of the Falkland Islands

  

  As Mercopress reported, Premier Oil are currently consulting on the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for their Sealion Oil Field development sitting 220km to the North of the Falkland Islands in 450 metres of water depth. The formal minimum 42 day consultation period began earlier in the week and only after the Falkland Islands Government agreed via its Executive Council that it could do so.

  Falklands holds consultation on Premier Oil environmental impact statement

  

  An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) has been submitted to the Falkland Islands Government by Premier Oil Exploration and Production Limited. The EIS covers the proposed development activity for Phase 1 of the offshore Sea Lion oilfield, located in the North Falklands Basin approximately 120 miles to the north of the Falkland Islands.
