  Falklands: Sea Harrier and Lynx helicopter arrived on time for Liberation Day

  

  Finally, the Sea Harrier and Lynx helicopter, donated by the UK Defense Ministry have arrived in the Falkland Islands on time for Liberation Day, Friday June 14th. The final destination of the two aircraft is the Lookout Gallery and Exhibition Hall under construction for the local Falkland Islands Museum.

  HMS Invincible battle Ensign will be displayed at Falklands' Museum

  

  The battle Ensign from aircraft carriers HMS Invincible, which as the flagship of the Task Force sent to recover the Falklands Islands played a leading role in combating the Argentine occupation forces in the Islands, has made it to its new home, the Historic Dockyard Museum in Stanley.

  Searching for Admiral Graf von Spee’s great cruiser fleet sunk at the Falklands Battle

  

  In 2014-2015, to mark the centenary of the Battle of the Falklands, Mensun Bound, a Falkland Islander himself, led an expedition to try to find Admiral Graff von Spee’s lost cruiser squadron in 1914, the whereabouts of which has become one the great mysteries of the maritime world.   The Falklands: Then & Now opens at the Historic Dockyard Museum

  

  A fascinating new exhibition, entitled The Falklands: Then & Now was opened by the Acting Governor Alex Mitham, in the Historic Dockyard Museum last week. Museum Director, Andrea Barlow, thanks invited guests to the preview, and expressed her gratitude for the many contributions to the exhibition.

  Falklands' capital Stanley three oldest buildings incorporated to new museum

  

  The location of the Falkland Islands new Historic Dockyard museum to be opened to the public next Friday, adds to its historical importance and incorporates three of the oldest buildings in the capital Stanley built in the 1840s. Store House Nº1 is the largest converted space and is known locally as the Central Store, the Black Smiths shop several other small buildings have also been renovated from their neglected states and converted into exhibition spaces.

  Falklands new Historic Dockyard Museum opens to the public on Friday

  

  After decades of planning, and a huge amount of dedication from the Falkland Islands Museum and National Trust (FIMNT) and supporters, the Falkland Islands’ new Historic Dockyard Museum is nearing completion. Approximately 100 invited guests attended the launch event on Saturday 6th September, and the building will be open to the public on Friday 12th September.
