  Argentine marine who headed invasion of the Falklands on 2 April, dies

  

  The Rear Admiral who headed the landing and invasion of the Argentine forces in the Falkland Islands on 2 April 1982 died over the weekend. Carlos Büsser was under house arrest for his alleged participation in crimes against humanity during the last military dictatorship although he was never convicted.

  Falklands’ lawmaker anticipates cracks in Argentina’s blockade of the Islands

  Falklands’ lawmakers at party conference meet Argentine ambassador Castro

  

  The Falkland Islands Government stand at the Liberal Democrat Party Conference in Brighton welcomed a number of senior party members including the leader Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and the Argentine ambassador in London, Alicia Castro who was also attending the event.

  FOGL spuds the second well of its exploration program to the east of Falklands

  

  Falkland Oil and Gas, FOGL, announced on Tuesday that last 25 September it spudded the Scotia exploration well to the East of the Falkland Islands. The well FI 31/12-01 is located 315 km east-northeast of the Islands capital Stanley, and 114 km from the Loligo prospect.

  HMS Edinburgh on South Atlantic patrol; last deployment for Type 42 destroyers

  

  The Royal Navy’s destroyer HMS Edinburgh left on Monday Portsmouth on her final planned deployment. It marks a historic milestone for both the ship and the Royal Navy as it will be the last time a Type 42 destroyer deploys on operations as they make way for the new-generation Type 45 destroyers.
