House of Commons Speaker will attend Goose Green Liberation service Sunday

Sir Lindsay Hoyle Speaker of the House of Commons, currently on a visit to the Falkland Islands announced he will attend Sunday's Goose Green Liberation commemoration, called on the Falklands Legislative to take advantage of his chairmanship to promote initiatives for the benefit of the Islands, and underlined that Islanders can only decide Islanders' self-determination and future.

Falklands war: Plymouth and Liverpool remember UK merchant navy sailors killed

The city of Plymouth held a ceremony to remember British Merchant Navy sailors killed in the Falklands War and other conflicts. Wreaths were laid during the gathering at the Merchant Navy Monument on the city's Hoe seafront.

Cunard Falklands' loss, and a tribute to the Merchant navy will be commemorated by Liverpool

On 25 May 1982, the Atlantic Conveyor a support vessel of the Task Force sent to recover the Falkland Islands was struck, and sank, by two Exocet missiles fired by Argentine aircraft. The Cunard owned vessel was registered in Liverpool and the city will commemorate the 40th anniversary, which cost the lives of twelve people.

British lawmakers have demanded an inquiry into whether France was dishonest about the existence of a “kill switch” in missiles used by Argentina in attacks that killed British sailors during the Falklands War, with the sinking of several vessels, the first of which was Type 42 HMS Sheffield.

Argentine Ministry posted an image of a British vessel on ARA General Belgrano's sinking memorial in Falklands War

Last Monday was the 40th anniversary of the sinking of the ship ARA General Belgrano, one of the flagships of the Argentine Navy after being hit by torpedoes from the British submarine Conqueror during the Falklands War. As part of the tributes for the more than 300 Argentine sailors who died in that attack, the Argentine Ministry of Education wanted to honor the anniversary on social media. However, it ended in an embarrassment.

The city of Sheffield has come together to mark the 40th Anniversary of HMS Sheffield's sinking during the Falklands conflict. HMS Sheffield was struck by an Argentine missile on 4 May 1982 before sinking six days later on 10 May.

Falklands war was instrumental in accelerating the return of democracy in Argentina, Ambassador Figueroa

By Catherine Lough, PA - The memory of the Falklands War is an “open wound” for Argentina, the country’s ambassador to the UK has said. Speaking to Catherine Lough of Press Association news agency to mark the 40th anniversary of the conflict, Javier Figueroa said wrangling over the Islands’ sovereignty is “ridiculous”, but admits that the war was instrumental in accelerating the return of democracy to Argentina.
