The Power & Electrical Department hosted an open day last week at their Sand Bay Wind Farm to showcase the work being undertaken by the Falkland Island’s Government (FIG) to utilise and promote renewable energy sources. The open day, which included guided tours and demonstrations, formed part of wider initiatives recently undertaken by FIG to address issues surrounding climate change.
Glenn Ross from the Falkland Islands will be speaking on wind energy and integration to diesel systems at the annual conference of Trinidad and Tobago Professional Engineers Association (APETT) scheduled for June 25/26 at Point Lisas.
The Falkland Islands experience in implementing energy projects, both conventional and wind farms was shared with the attendants of the recent RELACCX (Renewable Energy Latin America and Caribbean Conference and Exhibition) event, held in Puerto Rico, and where Falklands' engineer Glenn Ross was an invited speaker.
At least four candidates will stand for election at the Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly by-election (Stanley constituency) on June 23; only one of which has never taken up a place in former Legislative Assemblies.
The government of the Falkland Islands confirmed Thursday morning that Glenn Ross has resigned from the Legislative Assembly. A release from Gilbert House states that Members of the Legislative Assembly regret his resignation which with immediate effect, was accepted by His Excellency the Governor.
