His Excellency Governor Nigel Phillips CBE will be leaving the Falkland Islands on Friday 1 July 2022 at the end of his tour of duty. The following arrangements have been put in place for his farewell.
The Falkland Islands elected government, Gilbert House, has announced that the Swearing in Ceremony for the Governor Designate, Mr. Nigel Phillips CBE will take place in the Court and Assembly Chamber, Stanley, on Tuesday 12th September 2017 commencing at 09:00 hrs.
Mr Nigel Phillips CBE has been appointed Governor of the in succession to Mr Colin Roberts CVO who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Phillips will take up his appointment in September 2017.
Asked at a press conference on Wednesday why the Argentine Government had appeared to be against his appointment to the Falkland Islands, while also attempting to vilify him as someone who had previously opposed the right to self-determination of the inhabitants of another small island community, the newly-arrived governor, Mr Colin Roberts CVO, said that he was mystified by the logic and “would welcome illumination”.
Falkland Islands governor designate Colin Roberts CVO will be taking the oath of office next Tuesday morning 29 April at the Court and Assembly Chamber of Stanley's Town Hall. The swearing in ceremony will be followed by a parade at Victory Green, according to a release from Gilbert House.
