Behind the lines in 1982: A story of journalistic bravery

By Graham Bound (Stanley, FI) – Days were short during the occupation of 1982, and everything in Stanley seemed hostile and frightening. Our situation was hardly any safer when the watery winter sun went down and the Argentine-imposed curfew forced us indoors. But within whichever substantial building one chose to shelter, with windows blacked out and peat stoves glowing, there was comfort and at least the perception of safety.

Falklands newsman would like an apology for 1982

While Argentina's Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero wrote for The Guardian last week that his country posed a threat to no one, Graham Bound, founder of Port Stanley's Penguin News, told the Spanish newswire service EFE that the presence of British troops on the islands did serve a purpose.

April 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the outbreak of the Falklands War, a 74-day conflict fought over the Falkland Islands. Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust is commemorating this anniversary through a photographic exhibition and gallery display.

Falklands' Museum incorporates naval journal with accounts of Port Egmont 250 year ago

Two hundred and fifty years on, the story of a bold Falklands naval adventure has been purchased for the local museum in Stanley. Friends of the Falkland Islands Museum and Jane Cameron National Archives (FIMA Friends) executive committee member Alexandra ‘Zaz’ Shackleton was browsing at the regular antiquarian travel book fair at the Royal Geographical Society in London, when she came across a volume that she immediately knew belonged in the Falklands.

“Fortress Falklands” Spanish version of G. Bound latest book launched in Uruguay
