  Princess Anne in the Falklands impressed by Islands continued development and vibrant community

  The Falkland Islands City of Stanley is twinned with Whitby and Portsmouth in the United Kingdom, and this week the mayors of both cities are visiting the Islands as part of the commemorations of the 40th anniversary of the Liberation of the Falklands in 1982.

  Members of the Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly John Birmingham and Pete Biggs have both voiced personal distaste at the concept of oil production in the Falkland Islands, despite an overall commitment in the Islands Plan 2022 to “progress extractive industries in an environmentally conscious way.”

  Falklands election: manifestos of the four Camp candidates

  

  The Falkland Islands are scheduled for next Thursday 4 November and four are the candidates for the three benches that represent the Camp constituency at the Legislative Assembly.
