    Falklands 2014 and 2015 business climate surveys “very good”, but 2016 prospects aren't so rosy

    The Business Climate Survey is undertaken by the Falklands Islands Development Corporation, FIDC, with support from the Falklands Chamber of Commerce

    The Falklands Business Climate Survey strongly suggests that 2014 and 2015 were two very good years for the Islands economy and its business community, which translated in profits and higher levels of turnover, particularly 2015. However survey respondents predictions for this year and onwards aren't as rosy with many businesses anticipating lower turnover and investments, but not necessarily profits, while the overall average rating for the Islands' economy weighed between “average” and “good”.

    The two Falkland Islands youth teams competing in a football tournament in Punta Arenas, Chile have managed two excellent wins and also scored goals in almost every match they played proud coach Wayne Clement told Penguin News this week.

    Fourteen young footballers from the Falkland Islands will fly to Punta Arenas, Chile with their coaches on Saturday to take part in the Unifying Continents at the South of the World Cup.The Falklands is entering two teams in the tournament that also includes teams Colegio Aleman, Colegio Cruz del Sur, Colegio Britanico, Leumag, and two teams from Club Deportivo Victoria.

    Falklands considering alternative financial services in the form of a credit union

    A locally owned and managed credit union, “run by the people that it serves” that would provide savings, credit and other financial services to its members, is the subject of a newly released suitability study by the Falkland Islands Development Corporation (FIDC) and was discussed at public consultation meetings at the Chamber of Commerce and the Goose Green Social Club this week.
