  Falklands oil development: update on the consultation on Sea Lion offshore field

  

  On Tuesday 2 July 2024 it was announced that Navitas Petroleum Development and Production Ltd (Navitas) issued a revised Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) concerning its proposals for the drilling of oil wells and offshore production from the Sea Lion Field Northern Development Area, Phase 1 and 2.

  Falklands: Navitas updates emission assessment of Sea Lion environmental impact statement

  

  The Israeli/US company preparing to extract oil from Falkland Islands waters, Navitas Petroleum Development and Production Ltd. (Navitas) has issued a revised Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) concerning its proposals for the drilling of oil wells and offshore production from the Sea Lion Field Northern Development Area, Phase 1 and 2, which includes additional information on atmospheric emissions.

  Rockhopper/Navitas plans to develop Falklands' Sea Lion offshore project in late 2023 or 2024

  

  Falklands upstream firm Rockhopper Exploration said a final investment decision (FID) on the Falkland Islands project Sea Lion should be taken by end-2024 the latest. Officials are working on a lower upfront cost project and seeking financing.

  Navitas banned from Argentina for twenty years for operating in Falklands' waters

  

  Israel's Navitas Petroleum has been banned from all activities in Argentina for the next twenty years for involvement in the hydrocarbons industry in the Falklands/Malvinas zone without Argentine permission.

  Fresh air for Falklands' oil industry: Navitas to become operator with Rockhopper, and Harbour exits

  

  Encouraging news for the Falkland Islands budding hydrocarbons industry. Rockhopper Exploration officially announced on Wednesday that it had reached a new agreement with Navitas Petroleum by which its potential farm-in portion of the Sea Lion project increases significantly, while the current holder of the majority share, Harbour Energy exits the undertaking.
