  Next week (16th-22nd May), Falkland Islands residents should consider taking part in Falkland Conservation’s Big Plastic Count. Inspired by Greenpeace's plastic count in the UK, Falklands Conservation are launching an island-wide survey with the aim of recording all plastic used by Falklands residents in just one week.

  Dead sperm whale in Indonesia had kilos of plastic waste in its stomach

  

  A sperm whale found dead in a national park in Indonesia had nearly 6kg of plastic waste, including 115 cups, in its stomach, park officials said on Tuesday. The 9.5m whale was found in waters near Kapota Island, part of the Wakatobi National Park, southeast of Sulawesi, the park said in a statement.

  The UK Government has earmarked a £61.4 million war chest to fight the rising tide of plastic pollution in the world’s oceans. Theresa May announced the fund ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in London this week.
