The Royal Navy has deployed ice patrol ship HMS Protector to help search for an Argentine submarine that went missing in the South Atlantic with 44 people on board. Contact with the Argentine military sub ARA San Juan was lost three days ago, Wednesday.
The RAF Hercules flight which last Saturday landed in the international Brazilian airport of Porto Alegre was flying from the Falkland Islands on a search and rescue mission, as part of a humanitarian effort, according to the Brazilian reply delivered to the Argentine foreign ministry, and reported by political analyst Martin Dinatale.
A Royal Air Force Hercules was photographed at the Porto Alegre international airport in August last year when it called allegedly for refueling, en route to the Falkland/Malvinas islands, according to the Rio Grande do Sul main daily Zero Hora. The photo from Centeno Mendes, was published following Argentina's official concern to Brasilia regarding 18 RAF calls in Brazilian airports, in the last two years.
