  Argentina envisions further military developments in southernmost areas

  Tierra del Fuego Debit cards with the Falklands map for Malvinas Veterans

  

  The Tierra del Fuego province bank has issued special debit plastic cards for Malvinas veterans with a picture of the East and West Falklands map, to mark the fortieth anniversary of the South Atlantic conflict, and reaffirmation of the Argentine claim over the Islands.

  The municipal government of Ushuaia, extreme south of Argentina and capital of the province of Tierra del Fuego has created a Malvinas Islands Secretariat, as part of the commemorations of the 40th anniversary of the Falklands' war.

  A Malvinas time capsule to be opened in 2082, sponsored by Ushuaia authorities

  

  A Malvina's time capsule with letters, artifacts, memorabilia, plus testimonies from Veterans and families is being organized by Ushuaia Veterans with the support from the Tierra del Fuego capital government as part of the 40th Anniversary of the Malvinas Feat.

  Last living Yagan language speaker dies aged 93; members of her ethnicity lived in the Falklands

  

  The last known living person who spoke Yagan, the language of the indigenous people who inhabited Tierra del Fuego, passed away this week in the Clinics Hospital from Punta Arenas, extreme south of Chile. She was 93, and had to be transported urgently from Puerto Williams to the Magallanes Region capital.

  Ushuaia creates a Malvinas Affairs Secretariat in the framework of the 40th anniversary

  

  Imbibed with the 40th anniversary of the Falklands conflict spirit, the city of Ushuaia decided to elevate the department which dealt with Malvinas Islands issues, to the rank of Secretariat, thus “reaffirming the will of Ushuaia residents as the capital of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands”.

  Malvinas Islands' crest in all Tierra del Fuego sportswear and school uniforms

  

  In anticipation of the 40th anniversary of the Falklands/Malvinas War, in 2022, the Argentine Tierra del Fuego province legislative passed several bills making it mandatory that all teams' sportswear in all the different competitions representing the province must have the Malvinas Islands crest, “and hopefully this initiative will also be implemented by other provinces”.
