Steel has been cut for the Royal Navy’s second Type 26 frigate, HMS Cardiff.

The ceremony held at BAE System’s shipyard in Govan this week, on the River Clyde, marks a milestone for the Global Combat Ship program. Minister for Defense Procurement, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, pressed the button to start the plasma-cutting machine to work on a plate of steel which will form part of the unit which holds stores.

Royal Navy will have a second aircraft carrier, “Prince of Wales”

The UK Royal Navy is to get the second operational aircraft carrier, British Prime Minister David Cameron announced. Britain is building two 65,000-ton aircraft carriers in a £6.2 billion deal with a BAE Systems-led industry alliance, but the Conservative-led coalition had previously said it would mothball or sell the second warship due to the cost of operating two carriers.

UK unveils its latest and most modern and secret un-manned aircraft, Taranis

The most advanced aircraft ever built by British engineers made its maiden flight at an undisclosed test range on August 2013 under the command of BAE Systems test pilot Bob Fraser. According to the Ministry of Defense (MOD) the demonstrator Taranis aircraft made a perfect take-off, rotation, ‘climb-out’ and landing on its 15-minute first flight.

Brazilian Navy incorporates third UK built Amazonas class ocean patrol vessel

The newest ship in the Brazilian navy's fleet has left the UK on a journey of more than 16.100km to Brazil. “Araguari” which sailed from Portsmouth is the third of three Amazonas class ocean patrol vessels delivered to the Brazilian navy by BAE Systems.
