  Forty UK trade agreements at risk in the event of a no deal Brexit, warns CBI

  

  The UK risks “crashing out” of 40 trade agreements spanning five continents in the event of a no-deal Brexit, a business organization has warned. The Confederation of British Industry, CBI, said there were “hugely damaging implications” for the UK if it had to leave trade deals it has through its membership of the European Union.

  The UK's service sector stagnated last month, with new orders falling for the first time in two-and-a-half years, according to the IHS Markit/CIPS purchasing managers' index (PMI). The figures showed a reading of 50.1 in January lower than December's 51.2.

  Falklands Sao Paulo air link to become operational next October to coincide with tourist season

  

  Argentina and the UK have agreed that the second commercial air link between the Falkland Islands and South America, with a stopover at Cordoba, Argentina, will begin operational next October in coincidence with the South Atlantic summer tourist season, according to Martin Dinatale, an Argentine journalist who specializes in diplomatic affairs.

  Following the discovery of the plane carrying Argentine football player Emiliano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson on Sunday, the UK’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) issued a press release midday Monday reporting that “in video footage from the ROV, one occupant is visible amidst the wreckage” of the fuselage identified on the seabed.

  Almost a third of UK companies moving abroad ahead of Brexit, reveals survey

  

  Almost a third of UK companies could move operations abroad because of Brexit, a survey has suggested. Research for the Institute of Directors revealed that 16% already had relocation plans while a further 13% were actively considering doing so. The IoD said it took “no pleasure” in revealing “these worrying signs”.

  Falklands' official RPI reached 2.9% in 2018; complaints of “inaccurate inflation”

  

  The Falkland Islands' retail price index RPI increased by 2.9% in the 12-month period ending on December 2018, members of the Legislative Assembly were informed. The increase is broadly in line with previous quarters’ year-on-year increases.

  UK and Chile sign a new trade continuity agreement with post Brexit in mind

  

  The United Kingdom and Chile signed on Wednesday in Santiago a trade continuity agreement that will see British businesses and consumers benefitting from preferential trading arrangements with Chile after Britain leaves the European Union. Ambassador to Chile Jamie Bowden and Chilean Foreign Minister Roberto Ampuero stamped the agreement.
