
Yair Netanyahu, son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, declared on social media that he recognizes the Falkland Islands as part of Argentina, reviving a long-standing sovereignty dispute between Buenos Aires and London.

US President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer signed a major technology prosperity deal on Thursday, focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and civil nuclear energy. The agreement is expected to bring over US$205 billion in investment from US tech giants to the UK.

The new British Ambassador to Argentina, David Cairns, presented his credentials on Thursday to Foreign Minister Gerardo Werthein at the Palacio San Martín. Norway has formally announced it will purchase at least 5 Type 26 frigates to be built in the UK, an operation costing some 13,5 bn dollars. The announcement confirms what has been obvious for some time, but it is only the first step in this momentous program. The Norwegian and British governments will soon finalize a binding agreement which will set the framework for a strategic partnership. Once this agreement is signed, the two parties will enter into detailed contract negotiations with BAE Systems for the delivery schedule. The RN and UK government have worked hard to support this with an extensive program of visits by ministers, multiple visits to Norway by RN ships and deepening defense cooperation in the last few years.

Britain's defenses are getting a boost. The UK Ministry of Defense (MoD) announced that it is investing £118 million (US$158 million) in the purchase of six new Land Ceptor anti-aircraft missile systems, doubling the number of deployable Sky Sabre systems operated by Britain's armed forces.

Ethel Caterham, a British woman born on August 21, 1909, has become the world's oldest living person after celebrating her 116th birthday. She gained the title following the death of Brazilian nun Inah Canabarro Lucas in April. Independent in nature, she drove until she was 97, and played bridge in her old age. Ethel was born in Shipton Bellinger, Hampshire, on August 21, 1909.
