  Falklands/Malvinas: Argentine Air Force recalls 35th “Baptism of Fire” in May 1982

  

  Argentina's Air Force commemorated with a parade and display of force the 35th anniversary of its ''Baptism of Fire”, which occurred on May first 1982 when Argentine fighters completed over 50 sorties in an attempt to repeal the British Task Force sent to recover the Malvinas Islands.

  Philanthropist who funded recovery of Falklands' SS Great Britain had died

  

  Sir Jack Hayward, the man instrumental in bringing the SS Great Britain back to Bristol, has died. The 91-year-old multi-millionaire helped fund the project to return Brunel's ship from the Falkland Islands in 1970, a journey of 8,000 miles. Known as 'Union Jack' for his patriotism, the businessman was a former owner of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

  Falklands’ war restored Vulcan bomber will take final flight next year

  

  Britain's only flying Cold War Vulcan bomber and which participated in Operation Black Buck bombing Stanley airport during the Falkland Islands conflict of 1982, will take its final flight next year before being grounded because of soaring restoration costs, according to reports in the UK media.

  Britain’s Farnborough International Air-show opened last week with a joint flypast of the Red Arrows and the world’s last airworthy Avro Vulcan bomber XH558 commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Falklands War.

  A Vulcan bomber which launched air raids on Stanley Airport thirty years ago has flown over the peaceful countryside of central England to mark the dedication of a new Falklands Memorial to the 255 British servicemen and three women Islanders killed in the conflict.
