  Brazil scraps visas for tourists from US, Canada, Japan and Australia

  

  Effective June 17, tourists from the United States, Canada, Japan and Australia will no longer need a visa to visit Brazil. Travellers with a valid passport will be able to explore Brazil for up to 90 days, with the possibility of extending their stay to up to 180 days (though expect a visit to the Federal Police to get the extension approved).

  Thousands of furious Venetians have marched in protest against large ships dubbed “sea monsters” clogging the city’s narrow waterways and destroying the lives of locals. An estimated 5.000 people took to the docks near Venice’s famous San Marco square to protest “bison of the sea” dominating the lagoon city that is a UNESCO world heritage site.

  Antarctica tour operates announces new restrictions on commercial drone use by visitors

  

  The International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators has announced robust new restrictions on commercial drone use in Antarctica. The constraints, voted in at IAATO’s annual meeting in Cape Town, South Africa (April 30 – May 3), mean those using Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) for commercial purposes on IAATO vessels will have new restrictions limiting piloting opportunities.

  MSC Opera crashes into a wharf in Venice; heated row over the lagoon city and its fragile ecosystem

  

  A massive cruise ship lost control as it docked in Venice on Sunday crashing into the wharf and hitting a tourist boat after suffering an engine failure. Tourists on the harbor could be seen running away as the 13-deck MSC Opera scraped along the dockside, its engine blaring, before knocking into a tourist boat, amateur video footage posted on Twitter showed.
