  Uruguay, Brazil agree to boost tourism at the border

  

  Tourism authorities from Brazil and Uruguay agreed over the weekend on a series of measures to boost the industry between the two countries during the Brazil-Uruguay Integration Forum held July 30 at the Rivera City Hall.

  International tourism has recovered to almost half of pre-pandemic 2019 level

  

  According to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer, international tourism saw a strong rebound in the first five months of 2022, with almost 250 million international arrivals recorded. This compares to 77 million arrivals from January to May 2021 and means that the sector has recovered almost half (46%) of pre-pandemic 2019 levels.

  Machu Picchu increases capacity to appease angry tourists

  

  Operators at the Machu Picchu Inca citadel in Peru have agreed to increase the site's capacity from 4,000 to slightly over 5,000 tourists after protests from would-be travelers, it was announced Thursday.

  Ushuaia expects a record cruise season with 540 vessel calls confirmed

  

  Tierra del Fuego Ports' Authority has announced that climate permitting, this coming 2022/2023 cruise season Ushuaia is expecting some 540 vessel calls, making it probably a record season both in the number of passengers and vessels. At the height of the season, eighteen vessels will be visiting the Argentine extreme south city.
