HMS Gloucester delivers Task Force South exhibit to Falklands’ museum

An exhibition of Falklands War naval artefacts was presented Wednesday to the Falklands Museum after being brought to the Islands by HMS Gloucester that has taken up tasks as the lead unit of the Royal Navy’s Atlantic Patrol (South).

Jumbo Humboldt squid “invade” shallow waters off south California

Thousands of jumbo Humboldt flying squid — aggressive 5-foot-long with razor-sharp beaks and toothy tentacles — have invaded the shallow waters off San Diego in southern California, scaring scuba divers and washing up dead on tourist-packed beaches.

Botnia mill case resumes hearings in The Hague next September

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, the United Nations' principal judicial organ, informed that it will hold public hearings in the case concerning the two Pulp Mills on the River Uruguay (Argentina v. Uruguay) from Monday 14 September to Friday 2 October 2009, at the Peace Palace in The Hague, the seat of the Court. After the hearings, The ICJ will have to suggest measures to stop the conflict between both countries.

US travel alert to Argentina because of the H1N1 virus

The United States Department of State has sent out a travel alert to US citizens travelling to or residing in Argentina on the health risks associated with the World Health Organization (WHO)-declared 2009-H1N1 influenza pandemic, which has resulted in illness in numerous countries. The current outbreak in Argentina has caused federal, provincial, and municipal authorities to announce several measures to prevent the illness from spreading.
