A new grossly offensive comedy on Channel 4 portraying Lady Thatcher as a sex-starved Falklands War obsessive, and mocking her frail mental health, has been criticised by MP's.
Channel 4 is reviving its controversial satirical comedy show 'Comic Strip' which shows the former Conservative Prime Minister as a Norma Desmond-type nymphomaniac, obsessed with her legacy and constantly watching old footage of herself.
'Comic Strip' is making a comeback, 30 years after its debut, with a show depicting Tony Blair as a fugitive on the run from police, who ends up being seduced by the former Conservative leader at her countryside mansion.
The highly inappropriate depiction of the 85-year-old has upset many supporters and family members as it shows the character of Thatcher keeping her beloved husband, Dennis' skeleton in her cupboard.
The former PM's daughter Carol also revealed she believes her mother was suffering from dementia and also had a series of minor strokes.
I think it is in very poor taste and people will feel quite angry...She is obviously quite elderly and frail and it is quite wrong to use someone's image in that way, it is certainly disrespectful, the Daily Mail quoted Andrew Rosindell, Conservative MP for Romford, as saying.
To project Lady Thatcher in that way is rather cruel to be honest...It is all in very poor taste, maybe they should consider whether it is appropriate to be screened, he stated.
Mark Pritchard, MP for The Wrekin in Shropshire, added: If true, this is grossly offensive to one of Britain's greatest prime ministers, and I don't mean Mr Blair. Comedy does not have to be vulgar to be funny.
MP's are even said to have called Channel 4 to reconsider showing the 60-minute film, in which Thatcher is played by comedian Jennifer Saunders and Mr Blair is portrayed by Green Wing comedy actor Stephen Mangan.

Aug 29th, 2011 - 12:59 pm 0All Argentine political spectrum from right to left Cristina Kirchner will criticize for being too soft and dialogical in the UK to establish a State policy on disarmament and non-violence and opt for dialogue and peace among peoples , claiming in multilateral institutions like the UN, OAS, UNASUR. The fact is that Argentina has decreased significantly reducing their military spending to the essentials only. This contrasts with the aggressive arms of Great Britain and the current president of Argentina has been able to increase your social consensus and the fact demonstrated by the success in recent primaries where he earned more than 50% of the vote. But that obsession is actually convinced of all Latin American and Argentine.
