These should perhaps be friends, rather than at each others throats.

Or is this just playing into a third parties hand ???

We already had the election, Lugo won the presidency and Franco the vice. Then we impeached Lugo because he was a horny, scandalous, idiot of a leader and was being manipulated by Hugo Chavez. Remember that it was nearly unanimous by both the senate and congress to have him impeached as permitted by the constitution.

Plenty of countries in South America where the “democratic order” has been interrupted. Argieland, Bolivia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Venezuela. And maybe Brazil and Peru.
@4 “pariah country”? In whose opinion? The pariah argieland? The weak Uruguay? The dictatorial Venezuela? The overweening Brazil?

@3 Didn't I read that Lugo was well corrupt? Much like argieland, Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela? Uruguay is just a spineless nonentity dancing on CFK's strings!

#7 - Corrupt? That would be an understatement for Paraguay. There used to be a joke around here that when the world corruption index came out, Paraguay was in second to last and only because the government paid to not be last. I really don't mind it too much because an efficient government, example USA, can be a very dangerous government. Essentially the government stays weak, but they still get some decent infrastructure put in place.

Dany - I would prefer to be a pariah state than to be associated with the socialistic dictators of Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador and Argentina. Lucky for Paraguay that there is a huge Brazilian population or else I could see an invasion by these radical leftist countries to plant a puppet government. Thus the whole idea of the Ushuaia II protocol of Mercosur; permits the use of military force of a member state by other member state if it is considered that there has been a “democratic rupture”. Yeah we barely escaped that one.

    @BAMF Paraguay

Who the hell told you that US govt. is efficient, corruption free and weak to start with?

Have you ever heard about the governor of Illinois trying to sell the seat of Obama when he becomes president of US and got caught on tape by FBI in the process?

Four governors ended up in jail for rampant corruption in US in the last decades just in Illinois alone and the last was “Rod Blagojevich” the guy who wanted to sell Obama’s seat for some millions dollars.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/blogpost/post/rod-blagojevich-4th-illinois-governor-jailed-in-four-decades/2011/12/08/gIQAFzvVfO_blog.html

US, Italy and some others that I don’t want to mention (haha) are the more corrupted countries in the world.
The entire MOB in US runs casinos, rubbish collection business, building public sector, couriers, corporations, worker Unions, etc.

Who do you think US politician get so rich?

Don’t worry BAMF if its not Argentina or Brazil US will put their puppets after all is what you got since Strossner and look how bad you are... Paraguay GDP $21.24 billions.

Dany - I'll try to explain it better for you....Paraguay is inefficient to the point that even the politicians have a hard time getting rich. If a government employee receives a bribe, he has to spread that out to hundreds of others and thus keeping little for himself. In the USA, they are efficient with their corruption. They don't worry about the little stuff and only concentrate on the multi-billion dollar businesses like the military and health care, or the nationalized GMC car business; get my point. They make corruption function for them, but in Paraguay they can't even do that. And I will tell you that it is much better having it be like Paraguay. I know, I've lived in the USA, Brazil and Paraguay.

As for the governments that we have had since Strossner, it has been a bit shaky but show me a country that hasn't been like such after such a drastic change? I'm glad to see though that we do have a stable democracy, one that actually functions. I really thought Lugo would be our next dictator and I would have to move to another place, but I'm glad to see that the population here doesn't want any of that.

And just so you realize it Dany, official numbers in one of the worlds most corrupt countries is very irrelevant. Consider just the marijuana production that is accounted for!! Paraguay is the second largest producer in the world, right after Mexico.

I'm glad you think we are doing bad, I hope the whole world views it this way, then we don't attract too much attention.

Good news for our fellow “Der präsident Hugo Chavéz Frias” who won Venezuelan Elections from a crashing difference against Necon pro Amexican right wind “Looser Capriles”.

Huge participation of Venezuelan voters have expressed their will in a democratic, voluntary and in peaceful way.

Millions of Venezuelan happy celebrating on Venezuelan Streets.

Once again reality strikes and necons media groups and politicians depressed and sad again.

Congratulation “Präsident Hugo Chavez” the leader of the free people of “The Americas” and southern USA.

Even Anti-Hugo Chavez “ClarinMiente” y “La Destruccion” for superficial and stupid people wanted to be the first to voice the news.
