Tourist arrivals to the Falkland Islands are expected to increase by 14.6% in 2012 with a significant 28% increase in the number of leisure visitors, mainly driven by the 30th Anniversary of the Falklands war according to the September Falklands Forecast from the Falkland Islands Tourist Board. That’s the way to do it,
    More tourists,
    , more money
    More wealth,
    More status,
    More popular,
    ,,,
    Less Argentina
    Less dependent on them,
    Don’t need them
    Don’t want them
    Won’t miss them.

Good news “domestic tourism” is also growing.
It means more argentines are visiting our islands.

Indeed you can visit, just like any other tourists. Remember your passport though eh...even Argentinians need one when travelling outside their own country.

Why not come and see if you can bear to shift the chip off your shoulder, join the ever growing numbers of satisfied people who've enjoyed visiting the Falklands.

I would love to visit the Falklands! Would make a good trekking holiday for a couple o weeks! Soak up the landscapes, the history, see the birds, still be able to get a pint in the pub, enjoy the isolation, etc. Not that the missus would like that, would have to go with a mate.

Just a shame it's so expensive and difficult to get to; otherwise I'd be there like a shot! (incidently and off topic, is there a shooting scene in the Falklands? If so, what? Bunnies like the UK? Just curious)

There is a big target shooting scene in the Falklands, not much in the way of game shooting as most of the wildlife is protected.

@9 Like you, I'd love to visit from the UK. But it is a lot of money when you're retired. And trekking would be a non-starter at my age and with my back. Only looking at the MoD airbridge flights as I don't want to get any closer to LatAm than the Islands. Look at the www.falklandislands.com website. But, why, oh why don't they put vital information on? Like prices, payment methods. Information that would be obvious to Islanders, and might be obvious or easily found if travelling to Europe, but 8,000 miles? Is the Falkland Islands one of those “horrible” places where you get there and find that you're in a despised minority. But I've wanted to go there since '82! Got to see it before I croak. Where are the “cheap” deals? Looking at the figures, they expect everyone to spend £165. But anyone using a B&B is going to spend around £400 a week anyway. Still waiting to find out about tour prices. Is there any point in flying 8,000 miles and then only seeing Mount Pleasant and Stanley? How about MoD-sponsored activities like firing an assault rifle? Or a Rapier missile?

*8 I do prefer visiting the cultural cities of Europe rather than some frozen
barren landscape in the middle of nowhere..that´s my preference.

@10 If I ever come I'd have to bring some Firebird targets then and stick em on everyones clay pigeons and field targets hehe!

Customs would probably arrest me before I board the plane in the UK if I get out of the dream world for one minute (not Argentina's dream world, god no, not that one!) and step back into the real one.

No Argies. The visitors couldn't put up with the crying, sulking and whinging.

Just the sort of ignorant, parochial worldview I've come to expect from all Malvinistas. Maybe one day when you grow up and remove you head from your arse you'll learn to appreciate the whole world rather than just a few cities.

Ask the thousands of rich tourists that go there every year, and return.

Though enjoy smoky cities if you want, with their marvellous high rise buildings and traffic.......

It's Malvina House not Malvinas. Malvina is a Scottish womans name and was the name of the daughter of the owner of the hotel.
