Falkland Islands Governor Nigel Haywood accused Argentina of “making stuff up” in its relentless verbal assault on the UK and the Islands. With a referendum on whether the Islanders want to remain British less than a week away, Haywood vowed to keep “pushing back” against the “extraordinary” sabre-rattling, UK’s sensationalist tabloid The Sun published.

Haywood pledged the UK would stand by the Falkland Islands for as long they wished to remain an overseas territory.

After months of claims from President Cristina Fernández and her cabinet, he blasted: “Argentina just makes stuff up like: it’s a disputed territory and the UN has already said that the Islanders don’t have a right to decide. Where? They haven’t said that all.”

“It’s extraordinary. You have to admire the sort of chutzpah by which they make stuff up. This business of saying Britain’s got submarines with nuclear weapons in the South Atlantic. It’s making it up”, insisted Governor Haywood.

Aiming his words directly at Buenos Aires, Haywood went on: “Britain admitted having nuclear weapons in the South Atlantic in 1982”. It was part of the vessels tactical mission in the defence of Europe under NATO orders.

“That was because you invaded and the ships had nuclear weapons on when the Task Force moved down. They got rid of them as quick as possible but if you hadn’t invaded, the issue wouldn’t have arisen. They make these things up, and we have to push back.”

The diplomat admitted Britain had been reluctant to challenge Argentina’s claims but said Islanders “felt a lot better” when the UK kicked back.

The problem is that if you challenge everything they say, you would be challenging from the minute you got up in the morning to the minute you got to bed. Filthy dirty Liars are best ignored.

Exactly - there is a ton of verbiage and none worthy of response.

Unfortunately, they will say the same lie over and over again, until it is believed by themselves and some third parties.

One needs to stop 'untruths' being accepted, out of ignorance of the real story.

LEt them continue making up such lies. Most of what they say is so obviously a lie that no one would believe Argentina today even if they told the truth.

It has become a matter of the boy who cried wolf.

They lie so much and so often, that they forget which lies they have already told, and tell others that completely contradict their previous statements. They lie about the Falklands, they lie about the state of their economy, they lie about their debt restructuring, they lie about their relationship with their newest bestest friend Iran.

All I can think is that the Iranians must be laughing their arses off at the Argentine governments naivity and stupidity.

Not long now, and the world will know the minds and wishes of the Islanders.

Argentina will continue to lie, whine, cry, crawl and beg, but quite frankly their reputation (such as it was) and credibility (such as that was) has been completely destroyed by CFK and her goons.

Of course, this only helps the Islanders more. Thank you CFK for showing the world just why Argentina cannot be trusted with anything let alone with the Falklands. Thank you CFK for ensuring that the referendum will get maximum coverage world wide.

We couldn't have done it without you. :D
