They are low class Spaniards, lacking intellect and education in diplomacy that are in “government” at the moment, so is anyone surprised at the way they are behaving?

Their version of Gollum does as much for Spain as Timmerturd does for The Dark Country.

The big problem is Camoron, not Hague. The sooner he goes the better the chances of the Conservatives winning the next election: with him there they have none.

If the Gibraltarians want direct government then what exactly is the problem?

Oh no .... the times wrong an article.

The treaty also said no Jews or Moors were to live in Gibraltar, the treaty also didn't include a large section of land now claimed as part of Gib, or its waters.

They need to stop that thing with making people stay in their cars for 6 hours, the kindest thing to do would be to close the border.

'The World's 16 remaining territories that still do not govern themselves MUST have complete freedom in deciding their future status,' Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon told a forum on decolonization (2010).

Self-determination IS a fundamental human right.

It is up to the people of Gibraltar and the Falklands to decide who governs them. End.

'British fury as Spain ups tension on Gibraltar with new lorry blockade - BRITAIN'S diplomatic war with Spain over the Rock of Gibraltar escalated today after border guards turned away truck loads of concrete thought to be destined for a crucial infrastructure project.
The Foreign Office issued a strongly worded statement demanding an explanation from Spain, saying the situation was “wholly unacceptable”.
Express Online has discovered that lorries containing concrete were refused entry at the border yesterday.
It is understood the concrete was earmarked for the expansion of an artificial reef off the coast of Gibraltar, a project that has infuriated Spain.
The Gibraltar government, which has already protested about what appeared to be a blockade of its territory last weekend when 10,000 cars were stopped at the frontier, has launched an investigation.
It is the latest development causing a major headache for Britain's Ambassador in Madrid, Giles Paxman - younger brother of BBC Newsnight's chief inquisitor Jeremy....'

@2 What a pity you can't read. If you could, you might have noticed a few points. After ceding Gibraltar to Britain IN PERPETUITY in 1713, what did Spain do in 1727? It laid siege. Seems Spain complies with treaties to the same extent as argieland! And, as far as waters are concerned, does the Treaty of Utrecht mention Spanish territorial waters? No, it doesn't. Because, at that time, “territorial waters” depended on two things. The range of a cannon and whether there was a cannon in place. No legal international agreement on “territorial waters” until 1958. And then everyone got them!
    @4 Quiet! Grown-ups speaking.

I suppose it's a coincidence that Spain has upped the ante re Gibraltar just at the same time as the Spanish PM has been accused of corruption and accepting payments from a 'slush fund'

It's deja vu all over again

“In perpetuity so long as no Jews were allowed to live there. Which they have.”

Well let's throw them out & everything will be tickety boo eh?

Whist were at it - why not throw them out of Argieland - damn nuisance and inconvenience, getting themselves bombed, and spoiling a cosy relationship with Iran.

Once again, if unity with Spain is such a cat's meow, why doesn't Spain put a proposal on the table that the Gibraltarians would actually find attractive rather than this passive aggressive badgering. And maliciously extending the time it takes to wait in a customs line isn't making a good impression... I mean if it takes this long to get across a border crossing, complete with beat-downs, how long would it take to get a drivers license?

But like Argentina, Spain knows it can't top the offer Britain gives them. So they can only engage in fascist recidivism. Nothing new under the sun for them.

'SPAIN - Gibraltar - Margallo answers: “Spain meets the law at the gate, throwing them violate Concrete» - He complains that the authorities have opted for Rock 'fait accompli violating European law.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Manuel García-Margallo , has stressed this Thursday at the Gibraltar authorities that Spain is ” in strict compliance “with the gate controls, while the Rock the authorities are” violating “ with the launch of concrete blocks at the bottom of the sea.
It has ruled the foreign minister after the Gibraltar Government announced it has filed a complaint with the European Commission about the delays ”caused intentionally by the Spanish authorities' to persons seeking to enter or leave the Rock .
Margallo has insisted that Spain “has to fulfill and enforce the customs control legislation to prevent smuggling, illegal trafficking and money laundering ”and, therefore, explained that the controls at the border last weekend not respond to anything but the “strict compliance with European legislation.” “The difference is that we are in strict compliance with legislation and the Government of Gibraltar has chosen a policy of fait accompli violating European law, among them environmental legislation, ”he added...'

'Gibraltar complains to EU over Spain border delays -
The tiny British-held territory of Gibraltar complained to the European Union Thursday over delays at its border crossing with Spain which it said were “deliberately” caused by Spanish authorities.
Over the weekend the government of Gibraltar said cars entering and leaving the territory on Spain's southern tip were made to wait up to six hours to cross the border as Spanish authorities searched “practically every vehicle”...'

“Once again, if unity with Spain is such a cat's meow, why doesn't Spain put a proposal on the table that the Gibraltarians would actually find attractive rather than this passive aggressive badgering.”

Agreed-Spain, rather than using common sense and giving good reasons for the Gibraltarians to be Spanish have instead over the years ingrained in the Gibraltarians, a DNA of defiance, which means that even if Spain is nice any time soon, they will not be trusted.

And the worst thing that can annoy anyone is an irredeemable mistake. The Spanish are really annoyed with themselves for signing treaty of Utrecht, Lisbon etc etc.

As the Spanish (uncannily like their implants in Argentina), cannot stick to treaties and agreements, this further gives the impression to Gibraltarians that even if the Spanish created unbeatable conditions for them to become Spanish, the fact that Spain disregards any treaties means any agreement with the Gibraltarians would mean jack squit.

The same way in which the Spanish support Argentina's claim on the Falklands, ignorantly forgetting that their claim rivalled that of the Argentinians and which the Spanish dropped in 1863.

But hey, why stick to treaties, agreements and the consequences of what they agreed to in history?

And why not remain hypocrites with their Morocco enclaves?

After all, that's what they do.
