Argentine President Cristina Fernández, 60, was discharged Sunday midday from the Buenos Aires Favaloro Foundation hospital where she underwent successful surgery on a ‘subdural chronic haematoma’ after being given the all-clear from doctors.
The president will now complete her convalescence at the presidential residence in Olivos, where she will undergo a month of strict recuperation and clinical ‘cardiovascular’ monitoring, according to spokesman Alfredo Scoccimarro who has been responsible for the daily report on Cristina Fernandez medical condition.
This was the sixth daily report since surgery.
The president is expected to take at least 30 days of recovery away from official functions, with doctors also advising the president to avoid air travel during the resting period.
“Given the favourable post-surgery evolution of the President it has been decided the hospital discharge of the patient on this day”, said the release signed by doctors Facundo Manes and Gerardo Bozovich.
“The suture points will be removed beginning the tenth day. When considered opportune a ‘neurological-imaging’ control will be done”.
The clinic cardiologic control is followed by doctors Francisco Klein and Ramiro Sanchez; the neuro-surgery by Doctor Cristian Fuster and neurological by Doctor Facundo Manes.
Spokesman Scoccimarro said the president was in ‘excellent spirits” and sent a kiss to all who have supported her during these difficult moments.
The two previous reports anticipated the president would be leaving hospital any moment since she had began to walk in her room and spent time next to her sister Giselle looking at pictures.
Cristina Fernandez had a special room arranged for her where she spent time with her family.
