Argentine flagged vessels catch of Illex squid totaled 186.969 tons, says Inidep

A report from Argentina’s INIDEP (fisheries research institute) presented to the Fisheries Federal Council last week indicates that during 2013 Illex squid catches totalled 434.561 tons of which 156.163 were landed by 66 Argentine jiggers. The report identified as Number 20, refers to the first 35 weeks of this year, (1 to 35) and includes Argentine waters and outside Argentina’s Exclusive Economic Zone, ZEEA.

Paraguayan economy boosted by agriculture expanding at an annual 13.3%

Paraguay’s GDP expanded 13.3% in the second quarter of this year boosted by agriculture and beef exports, according to the latest release from the Central bank. Agriculture has proved the most dynamic sector with 6.2% growth helping Paraguay to have the fastest growing economy this year in Latam following on a 0.9% retraction last year, because of an extended drought.

Petrobras makes ‘beautiful’ discovery and generates a new promising oil province

Brazil's Petrobras and its Indian partners have made a “beautiful” oil discovery off Brazil's northeast coast, Sergipe-Alagoas basin, and it will produce a minimum 100,000 barrels of petroleum a day starting in 2018, the company's CEO said on Friday.

EC concludes fact-finding mission in Gibraltar/Spain border; tax fraud was not in agenda

European Commission said that it had received no “official, specific” complaint alleging tax fraud in Gibraltar, despite Spain’s repeated accusations against the Rock. Commission spokesman Olivier Bailly made the clear statement as he reminded reporters that allegations of tax evasion had not formed part of Wednesday’s fact-finding mission to the border.
