Argentina's Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich on Monday responded to Uruguay’s President José “Pepe” Mujica, who accused Argentina of “forgetting about integration” when things go right for the country, saying the statement was “unfair” given Argentina’s role in the “foundation” of regional integration. End of the affair? (Pep, rotting roadkill is now a chinese duchy. You need to follow up with the bosses in Bejing.)
Feb 24th, 2015 - 05:27 am - Link - Report abuse 0Mercosur predates NAFTA and the EU starting....... and yet it has hardly done anything in that time.
Feb 24th, 2015 - 06:49 am - Link - Report abuse 0It took me a little while to realise how Uruguay does things.
Feb 24th, 2015 - 10:40 am - Link - Report abuse 0The president makes lots of statements about what is going to happen, but with the exception of the blasted windmills, nothing ever does.
Where is the pot? Where are the electric buses which were going to cut the diesel use to almost nothing? A real non-starter when you looked at the service data against route requirements.
We have laws in place to cover all the things you would expect in a first world country, BUT, there is no enforcement, nada, zilch. They rely on the 'obedience' of the citizens to the law!
So your only chance of being caught by the local police seems to be if one of the party bosses dobbs you in or they stumble across a violent act taking place.
There are of course the hand-held radar speed guns so beloved of Yankee red-necked county police where they can pick the number for themselves BUT that doesn't seem to be how they are used over here.
So we have many dangerous vehicles on the roads driven by complete idiots. We have teenagers riding 125cc motorbikes without brakes which is why they wear boots (to stop them) and no exhausts to make believe the thing is more powerful.
All in all it's laughable for 'No Money Pepe' to criticise any other country for not obeying their agreements when he cannot (even if he cares) enforce 'his' own laws.
4. You seem incensed. Government's effect on society in a 1st world country is limited. (Thank God.) On the banana republic continent it's minimal. (Thank God, again.) Beyond the most basic services government is a pox on liberty. Government is only a reflection of the corruption of society and the weakness of the individual. Flawed peoples is the issue.
Feb 24th, 2015 - 12:35 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@4. Don't be so parochial. Criticising argieland is always worth the effort. Isn't important so that they can maintain their 'victim' status? Almost every country in the world gets criticised from one angle or another. If argieland wasn't criticised, it might start to think of itself as 'perfect'.
Feb 24th, 2015 - 12:58 pm - Link - Report abuse 0So look at things reasonably. There's a 'poodle' and obvious prat criticising argieland. Some argies might Think that if such a massive wanker can point fingers, there might be a point.
Some years ago, during the British Overseas Territory consultation, I suggested that the Falklands get out into the world and tell the truth. Seems that FIG adopted that approach. Now we have what is perceived as a small latam conspiracy versus a democratic country. These things don't happen overnight. And now one of the cronies has broken ranks! Probably impelled by a desire to be seen as 'successful' and try to avoid getting murdered by those who believe in democracy and freedom. Who will be next? Demagogues like Kirchner can be taken out quite easily once 'the people' are convinced. Call it the Mussolini syndrome.
Gibraltar is beginning to see the point. Picardo gets about. So do Garcia, Cortes and Sacramento. And that's good. Notice the hispanic names? Picardo is more Italian. But he visibly challenges spain to take its claims to the ICJ. Naturally, spain refuses. Gibraltar 10, spain 0. And so it works.
Bit by bit, argieland and spain are undermined. While we're at it, Russia is sanctioned. China is forced into Westernism. North Korea is, generally, a pariah worldwide.
Pepe may not know what he's really doing. Does that matter? As long as we get the right result? What will Vazquez do? Has he got enough bottle to tell Kirchner to get knotted?
Obrigado Pepe, muito obrigado.
Feb 24th, 2015 - 02:24 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Truer words could not be more clear.
Speaking of Perfil ( profile): That is a uniquely bad one of Sr. Capitanich. I would strongly suggest that he load his government jet with his share of the stolen millions, and fly up to Sampa or Rio for a bit of cosmetic enhanced surgery. His head looks like a big slab Picanha, very rare and turning blue.
It's hard to focus on long term integration when so much short term effort has been placed on destroying Argentina's productive capacity and society.

Feb 24th, 2015 - 04:44 pm - Link - Report abuse 0 What will Vazquez do? Has he got enough bottle to tell Kirchner to get knotted?
He already has done, the first time he was president.
He refused to talk to TMBOA and when they threatened to invade Uruguay (they had inflatables and 50 cal machineguns on the banks of the Plate) he enlisted the help of the USA.
That put the shits up TMBOA and Gollum who claims 'we had no intention of doing it'. That's only AFTER the yanks looked like being up their backsides within five minutes.
But of course he is older now and does not enjoy the backing this time that he had the first time. Otherwise the old cow in charge of the Broad Fraud wouldn't have dared to confront him publically about his choice of Minister for Defence.
So we will see.

Feb 24th, 2015 - 05:35 pm - Link - Report abuse 0If that is the case why not shut the power off to the Argies.
But there's more. What's with this 'unfair'? Anybody totted up the argie forces sent to the Falkland Islands in 1982 to 'oppose' 80 Royal Marines?
Feb 24th, 2015 - 05:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0If argieland has a valid claim to the Falkland Islands, wouldn't it be 'fair' to take the claim to the ICJ?
Even better, wouldn't it be 'fair, to have a little contest in which both argieland and Britain can use ALL their military capabilities. Argieland can send some saboteurs. Meanwhile Britain can launch 240 nuclear warheads, backed up by hundreds of high explosive cruise missiles, followed by a 400-strong tank force and a 1,000 strong armoured force. With simple rules of engagement. KILL! DESTROY! OBLITERATE! ANNIHILATE! REMEMBER the 255. And the THREE. Back in '82, we were kind. We thought argieland would learn.
NO MORE! Flush the shite to where it belongs. Not a real problem. As though there were 'people' in argieland. Might be a dozen or so. How are argie females as whores? Are they cheap enough? A pound sterling a week? Can't see paying more for an argie slut. Although I might want 50 pence change! Difficult to choose. No virgins in argieland. Timerman's sluts? Wife and daughters. Kiciloff's sluts? Capitanich sluts? Kirchner 3-way sluts?

I do hope he does that the second he is invested as president.
It remains to be seen whether the argie rent boys (our recently elected officials) can bring themselves to 'allow it'. Just think of Almagro and Gollum and their 'solid' relationship and the drunken sod who was our defence minister (best mate of Pepe of course) and was proud to receive his Malvinas Medal for being in the slammer whilst the war was on: but he WOULD have fought for the Junta!
Pepe would never do it because of 'solidarity' with his argie brothers. This clown really believes this shit.
I have to admit to being frustrated with these children who have NO appreciation of the real world and are incapable of just thinking ONE step ahead and are surprised when everything blows up in the faces.
Still, the first of March will soon be upon us. What a pity that The Ides of March probably won't bring us the relief that the Romans thought they had 2,059 years ago.
