    What a brilliantly timed decision!

The biggest fish exporter amounting to 50% of the market, owned by a mate of 'No Money Pepe' and owing U$D 41 M to 'The Development Bank' has gone tits-up and 960 people are without jobs.

Even from the grave of the Senate, the stupidity of Mujica knows no bounds as he was President while the negotiations were being carried out AND he knew Fripur were going under. Ah, to be a murdering commie bastard and stupid with it: he's in 'heaven'.

Will this be in Montevideo Bay? Important to ensure argies can't interfere. Might be a good idea to require all argie cargo movements to wait whilst fishing vessels carry out their activities. Argies can wait while fishing vessels dock, offload their cash, revictual and refuel and then leave again. Might be 24 hours. Might be a week.

I won't be holding my breath. The Frente Amplio administrations have promised a lot of public works that never got off the drawing board, came to a standstill or were simply unsuccessful.

    My favourite:

The Chinese built battery driven public transport buses that that were going to replace ALL the existing diesel fleet and solve the diesel smoke problems in MVD which 'No Money Pepe' claimed his big mate Owner and Chief Executive, of Buquebus Juan Carlos López Mena was going to fully fund!

Pity he never asked him first.

Even somebody with half-a-brain could understand the range problems of these useless things that would flatten a battery about half way from MVD to PdelE!

Pity the children of The Broad Fraud don't have half-a-brain between them.

    Chris @ 4

Mr. López Mena has taken in many far more intelligent and knowledgeable people than Mr. Mujica. LM may be South America's most successful con artist. Mr. Mujica won the presidency through excellent acting, not administrative talent - he simply created a character that ordinary Uruguayans (and many undiscerning foreigners) loved.

You don't know how true that last sentence is!

We came over in 2010 to see it we would be happy in Uruguay and by and large we are when you leave you extended family in the UK. We moved here in May 2010.

Before we made the decision I read all I could about the government from the government websites and, WHAT A MISTAKA TO MAKA! :o)

The websites then and now do not represent the reality in the country, neither financially or in terms of obtaining permanent residency!

BUT, and there's always a but, I 'fell' for the Mujica myth and looked forward to him being a good president.

That view, as you realise from my posts, didn't last six months. But, yes, to my dying shame I was taken in! ;o(
