This Monday evening the Organization of American States 46th General Assembly will officially open in Santo Domingo and this year's convening agenda refers to “Institutional Strengthening for Sustainable Development in the Americas”. The two day gathering is also expected to focus on the Venezuela, Haiti and the Inter-American Human Rights Commission situations, and as is the norm, the Falklands-Malvinas issue will be addressed or included in the final declaration. “calling for a peaceful solution to the sovereignty dispute between Argentina and the UK through dialogue and negotiations.”

Isn't it almost thirty four years since the matter was settled when Argentina tried other than peaceful means? Also, without discussions involving the Falkland Islands Government, there isn't going to be a solution any time soon.

As is normal the group will talk about the usurpation! And the UN resolutions!!

And fail to admit the truth:

We have a “peaceful solution” already, Argentina.
But thank you for your concern.

Hi Argentina- Macri and Malcorra and other warped fantasyland believers:
Tomorrow- June 14th - we here in the Islands will be commemorating and celebrating where we are today - and where we WANT to be - thanks to the stupidity of one of your previous Governments- which was indeed CHEERED ON BY MILLIONS OF ARGENTINES 34 years ago. Funny how you all seem to forget that bit!

Do go and grow up and get a life.

Almagro grew a pair for once and was stabbed in the back by Macri!

No change with the argies then.

Their wasn't a peaceful solution the UK had to use force to remove the fascists.
Argentina has never apologized to the islanders for the invasion still celebrate it they are only sorry they lost.

@7. As it happens, I don't believe argieland has ever apologised to the UK or to the families of the 255 British servicemen that died or the 775 that were wounded.

Until it does, and we can see that the sentiment is meant, those two facts will always stay between argieland and the British people. And WE feel for the Islanders subjected to war crimes. I've never understood why the UN let argieland get away with that.

It would be highly inappropriate to include Argentina's irredentist claims in an OAS
General Assembly, for the simple reason that there are several other Member States with claims that are just as irrelevant as that country's.
All Argentina's fascistic claims were settled for good in the Falkland's battlefields of 1982.

The only issue of interest is how Canada will vote, following its change of Government. There are unlikely to be any surprises from any other members.

    Perhaps when great Britain leaves,
we will be able to build up the royal navy and other military branches,

perhaps being stronger they will leave well alone.
