     U.S. shale has been capping the upside: Brent has not breached US$58 per barrel. Analysts are now mostly predicting oil prices will remain below US$60 this year.

    OPEC's coordinated effort to curtail global supply has so far managed to put a floor under oil prices, which have been sitting modestly above US$50 since the deal was announced at the end of November last year. But resurging U.S. shale has been capping the upside, and Brent has not breached US$58 per barrel. Analysts and experts are now mostly predicting that oil prices will remain below US$60 this year.

    Death toll in girls shelter in Guatemala rises to 40; allegedly they were locked in by officials

    The 40th victim died on Sunday in hospital. Out of 22 girls admitted, 10 have died, five have been discharged, four are stable condition and two in critical condition.

    The death toll from the fire at Guatemala's Virgen de la Asunción shelter for girls in the municipality of San José Pinula has risen to 40, officials said. Four of the girls hospitalized after the fire last Wednesday were flown on an airplane ambulance to the United States for treatment at the Shriners Hospital for Children of Galveston, Texas, Saturday night.

    Brexit bill expected to become law on Tuesday; process to begin end of March

    “Parliament has today backed the government in its determination to get on with the job of leaving the EU,” Brexit Secretary David Davis said.

    The British Parliament passed on Monday the Brexit bill, paving the way for the government to trigger Article 50 so the UK can leave the European Union. Peers backed down over the issues of EU residency rights and a meaningful vote on the final Brexit deal after their objections were overturned by MPs. The bill is expected to receive Royal Assent and become law on Tuesday.

    Argentina protests with Brasilia over Falklands RAF flights calling in Brazil

    Allegedly according to the report during 2016 at least six Royal Air Force flights called at Brazilian airports en route to MPA in the Falklands.

    The Argentine government reiterated on Monday its disappointment with the UK military flights linking with the Falkland Islands and calling in Brazil. “We made a complaint to Brazil regarding flights and we have also instructed our embassy in the UK”, said Malcorra speaking to the media.

    Scottish government plans second independence referendum in 2018/19

    The Scottish first minister said the move was needed to protect Scottish interests in the wake of the UK voting to leave the EU.

    Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed she will ask for permission to hold a second referendum on Scottish independence, and the vote would be held between the autumn of 2018 and the spring of the following year.
