an “excellent” season and one of the best in recent years.
Excellent news for the Argentine economy as all those tourist US$ come in. :-)
The city is improving the infrastructure with better services and repositioning...efforts to have a clean and tidy city for the visitors...upgrade port and docking conditions as well as promoting further cruise calls and improving the network of local roads...promote the tourism industry and invest in infrastructure...security has been a main issue and some thirty operations were undertaken to provide the necessary staff and resources to comply, successfully, with international regulations on the matter.
So, the evidence is that investment in infrastructure, cleaning up, promotion, improved security and generally getting your act together results in an increase in visitors, income and probably goodwill. Contrast that with the days of protests and burning tyres on the dockside.
I guess that they now allow the docking of ships that include the Falklands on their itinerary.
