Former Argentine president Carlos Menem once said that no one would have voted for him if he had unveiled his real intentions before getting elected.

Current president Mauricio Macri probably took a cue from Menem, and got elected on promises of growing the economy, supporting working people, taming inflation and reducing poverty.

Instead, he presides over an orgy of financial gambling and capital flight on borrowed money while the real economy sinks, workers' wages erode and the loss of purchase power hurts the domestic productive sector.

Not a single one of Macri's pre-election promises came to fruition.

Macri's typical neoliberal mantra is to keep asking for patience while the promised rosy future, as a desert mirage, remains elusive in the distance.

Patience is running out however, as more and more Argentines realize the extent to which they have been duped by the governing coalition.

As they say, can't fool everybody all the time.
