Tuesday, King's birthday, public holiday in Falklands; Charles will launch the Coronation Food Project
The Falkland Islands Government has notified that Tuesday 14th November will be a Public Holiday for His Majesty the King’s Birthday. All Government Departments (other than those providing essential services) will be closed.

More trouble ahead for Mercosur: EU Parliament agreement on Nature Restoration Bill
The European Parliament negotiators agreed on Thursday the EU Nature Restoration Bill which requires member countries to restore 20% of EU land and sea habitats by 2030, a bill that has already triggered spontaneous protests from the farming community in several EU countries.

Argentina and Chile sign key lithium agreement
Authorities from Argentina and Chile Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a Binational Lithium and Salt Flats Working Group which represents a significant step towards strategic cooperation in this regard, it was reported in Santiago and Buenos Aires following negotiations dating back to June 2022.

Former VP Astori, architect of Uruguay's 21st century economy, dead at age 83
Former Uruguayan Vice President Danilo Astori (2010-2015) died Friday at the age of 83 from complications following a hip fracture for which he had been hospitalized since late October, it was reported in Montevideo. Astori had resigned his seat on the Senate late last year due to other health problems.

APEC: No major breakthrough expected from Biden-Xi meeting
San Francisco is finalizing its arrangements for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit during which a key meeting between Presidents Joseph Biden of the United States and Xi Jinping of China is expected to take place on Nov. 15. Xi and Biden will get together to discuss a range of “potentially contentious” topics including the need for military-to-military dialogue.

Argentina getting ready for last presidential debate
Online betting platforms have been reported by Argentine media to be paying 1.85 if Libertarian Congressman Javier Milei wins the Nov. 19 presidential runoff and 1.7 if Economy Minister Sergio Massa does. In other words, AR$ 10,000 could become AR$ 18,500 or AR$ 17,000 depending on the outcome.
