    Milei is now expected to agree with other Brazilian initiatives within the G20 Summit

    Javier Milei's Argentina became after last-minute negotiations the 82nd country to join the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, Brazil's initiative launched during the two-day G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro. With Buenos Aires' decision, no G20 country stayed out of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's partnership which is also made up of the African Union and the European Union, in addition to 9 financial institutions, 24 international organizations, and 31 philanthropic and non-governmental entities, totaling 148 founding members.

    Russia’s Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov arrived Sunday in Rio de Janeiro to head his country's delegation attending the two-day G20 Summit starting Monday in the former Brazilian capital while President Vladimir Putin stayed in Moscow as winds of World War III blew again during the weekend after US President Joseph Biden gave his nod to Kyiv using US-built missiles.

    During a G20 social event this past weekend, Brazilian First Lady Janja da Silva cursed against billionaire Elon Musk in an outburst that made waves ahead of the world's leader's Summit starting Monday in Rio de Janeiro. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's wife was speaking through a microphone to an audience when a ship horn nearby interrupted her: “It’s Elon Musk,” she said. “I’m not afraid of you, f**k you, Elon Musk,” she added.

    Chinese President Xi Jinping told his Chilean counterpart Gabriel Boric Font in Lima on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting in the Peruvian capital that he hoped to expand cooperation between both countries with free trade and open industrial policies. The Asian leader also highlighted that Chile was the first South American country to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China.

    Presidents of Bolivia and Paraguay arrive in Rio for G20 guest appearances

    It will be the first G20 for Paraguay's and  Bolivia's Arce

    Presidents Luis Arce Catacora of Bolivia and Santiago Peña of Paraguay landed Sunday night in Rio de Janeiro to participate as a guest of the G20 Summit, to be held between Nov. 18 and 19 in the former Brazilian capital.

    The Libertarian Government of President Javier Milei Friday announced that Argentines wishing to import items for personal consumption will have a higher tariff-free cap of up to US$ 400, with only the value-added tax remaining applicable. In addition, purchases abroad for subsequent occasional exports will be spared any customs fee when up to US$ 3,000, from the current US$ 1,000. The initiative becomes effective next month, it was explained in Buenos Aires.
