  Macri urges Mercosur to take action against “Venezuelan dictatorship”

  

  Argentine President Mauricio Macri Tuesday launched an appeal in Montevideo to find solutions to the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela and called for the “return of democracy” in that country.   Argentina officially in recession: economy sinks 3.5% in third quarter

  

  Argentina is in recession after its economy shrank by 3.5% during the third trimester of 2018, the state statistics bureau said on Tuesday. It was the second such shrinkage in a row after the economy shrank 4.0% in the second quarter, with respect to the same period a year ago.

  Patagonia indigenous peoples suing oil majors for “environmental contamination”

  

  A major group of indigenous people living in Argentine Patagonia are taking some of the world's biggest oil and gas multinationals to court for “environmental contamination,” Greenpeace said this week.
