State of Emergency in Chile: 81.56% in favor of it

As the State of Emergency currently in force in Chilean Regions where armed conflicts are going on with alleged Mapuche rebels in arms in coming to an end next Tuesday, 81.56% of people were in favor of it being renewed by Congress, a Citizen Consultation in La Araucanía showed Sunday.

Chilean conservative candidate leads in polls for presidential November 14 dispute

On Friday public opinion pollster Cadem released its latest survey of vote intention for the highly contested Chilean November 14 presidential election with conservative candidate Jose Antonio Kast leading with 25% followed by a young radical, with no government experience, Gabriel Boric, with 19%, who is also under quarantine for having tested positive to coronavirus.

Wine production in South America booming: Chile 30% up and Argentina 16%

Wine production in Chile this season is expected to increase 30% because of the excellent climate conditions. Some 13,4 million hectoliters are estimated which will also be a record production for Chile and most probably will overtake Argentina.

Two dead and three injured in a gun battle with Mapuche radical groups in southern Chile

Chile's economy activity index in September increased 15,6% year to year

Chile's September Monthly Economic Activity Index, (IMACEC), jumped 15,6% compared to a year ago, above market expectations (13%), and 1,7% over the previous month, as reported by the Chilean central bank.

Piñera requests Congress to extend the state of emergency in Mapuche regions

Chilean president Sebastian Piñera announced on Tuesday he sent Congress a bill requesting a further fifteen days extension of the state of emergency in four areas of the Biobío and Araucaria regions, where there have been violent breaches of law and order.

Chile: Piñera says his impeachment is politically driven

Chile: 60% of people in favour of impeaching Piñera over Pandora Papers

An Ipsos survey released Thursday has shown that 60% of Chileans were in favour of launching the impeachment process against President Sebastián Piñera for the obscure deals for which his name ended up included in the so-called Pandora Papers investigations.
