    Brazil's Petrobras this last week increased the price of gasoline and diesel, 16,17% and 25,83% respectively at its refineries. The higher prices were announced following complaints from private refineries that domestic prices were out of line and tendency with the increased situation in international markets.

    Argentina's Economy Minister and presidential candidate Sergio Massa announced Thursday that fuel prices will be frozen until Oct. 31 after a 12.5% increase this week following an agreement with the country's leading oil companies, including the state-run YPF.     Argentina: mining and crude oil production grow in first semester of 2023

    According to a study by Argentina's National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec) released Monday, the mining industrial production index (IPI minero) reported a 10.7% year-on-year increase from June 2022 while crude oil production rose 8.2% interannually. Overall, industrial production of hydrocarbons and mining had an 11% increase in the first semester of 2023.

    YPFB finds new gas reservoir

    Bolivian authorities have reported that the state-run oil company Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) had discovered a new gas field in the Okinawa area after recent studies in the Remanso-X1 (RMS-X1) well. The new reservoir will generate approximately US$ 5 billion in gas, it was explained. It will also contribute to savings in fuel purchases of US$1 billion, according to YPFB.

    Greenpeace “No New Oil” activists, take their protest to PM Sunak's country estate

    Four individuals scaled Sunak's large house in North Yorkshire and dropped long black sheets to cover the facade and holding up a banner that read “No New Oil.”

    Greenpeace activists carried out a protest on the roof of the country estate belonging to UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Thursday. Sunak was not at home at the time as he is on holiday with his family in California.

    First shipment of “green lithium” (triple zero) from Brazil's Minas Gerais

    This week Brazil shipped the world’s first green lithium, produced in the Jequitinhonha Valley, in Minas Gerais, from the Port of Vitória (Espirito Santo State). The production, by Sigma Lithium, is a pioneer for having raised the level of industrial sustainability by being triple zero (zero carbon, zero waste and zero harmful chemicals). Lithium is used in electric vehicle batteries.
