    Australia approves new coal mine: 2,5 million tons in five years

    Scientists have repeatedly warned that any new fossil fuel projects are not compatible with global climate goals.

    Despite elected on a climate action platform the Australian government has approved a new coal mine for the first time since it was elected, reports the BBC from Canberra. The government was bound by national environment laws when considering Central Queensland's Isaac River coal mine, a spokeswoman said.

    Lithium exporters announce huge merger in Argentina

    Allkem shareholders will own approximately 56% and Livent shareholders will own approximately 44% of NewCo, it was announced

    Argentina's two only lithium exporters -Allkem (Australia) and Livent (LTHM)- have announced a multi-billion dollar merger. The companies operating in Catamarca and Jujuy will launch a new company valued at US$10.6 billion, it was reported.

    Oil and gas exploration company Argos Resources is set to sell its sole asset, the PL 001 production license in the North Falkland Islands, which is estimated to hold around 3 billion barrels of oil, to JHI. After completing the transaction, Argos plans to seek to delist from AIM and wind up the company.

    No Labor Day parade in Cuba due to fuel shortage

    Cuban authorities had to cancel the traditional May 1 Labor Day Revolution Square parade due to the shortage of fuel, it was announced Tuesday.
