  Falkland Islands detailed Consultation Report on Marine Managed Areas

  

  The unique marine environment of the Falkland Islands is important to our community, supporting our biodiversity and the economy of the Islands. The Falkland Islands Government ran a consultation from 23 March to 1 May to help us with our consideration of proposals for Marine Managed Areas (MMAs), which set aside areas for special protection. MMAs could play an important role in caring for and managing our marine environment for current and future generations.

  Volcano activity leads to temporary airport closure in Guatemala

  EU deforestation bill threatens Latin America and African countries

  The European Union Wednesday banned the import of products such as soy, meat, or wood that might involve deforestation in their processes. The measure also reached leather, furniture, palm oil, paper, cocoa, coffee, and rubber and their byproducts.

  Jiggers have started crossing from the Pacific to the Atlantic, reports Chilean Navy

  

  The Chilean Navy said it is keeping track of the international fishing fleet (mostly jiggers), transiting through the Magellan Strait from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean which started in November.
