  The success of the November 9/15 visit to the Falkland Islands of 130 Falklands Veterans and next of kin, has been underlined by the Chair of the 40th anniversary Committee and Governor Alison Blake. Letters of gratitude to all the Falkland Islanders for their generosity in hosting and caring for the visitors have been published in the Penguin News.

  Falklands' electricity price up from December first; power allowance scheme for households

  

  Due to the continued impact of increasing fuel prices, the Falkland Islands Government announced that in accordance with Regulation 10A of the Electricity Supply Regulations 1969, there will be a change in the price of electricity supplied to consumers.

  RRS Sir David Attenborough leaves for Falklands and Antarctica next Sunday

  

  Next Sunday, 20 November, Falklands flagged he RRS Sir David Attenborough departs from Harwich for a short stop at Portsmouth to take on fuel before leaving for Antarctica. Its first point of call will be the City of Stanley, Falkland Islands, three and a half weeks later. From there it will continue to the freezing region, fully loaded and with its capacity for lodging sixty scientists.

  Hundreds attended Remembrance Sunday commemoration in the Falklands

  

  As planned Remembrance Sunday, 13 November in the Falkland Islands was joined by a huge crowd of residents and broadcast live to the UK, since some 130 Falklands War Veterans and next of kin were in the Islands for the first time since the end of the conflict in 1982.

  Charles leads Remembrance as King; Falklands present at the Cenotaph with a floral wreath

  

  King Charles III led the Remembrance Sunday service at London's Cenotaph for the first time as monarch to honor Britain's war dead and in a special year, marking the 40th anniversary of the Falklands War.

  Eight UK students win competition to visit Falklands and explore areas of their interest

  

  As part of the Fortieth Anniversary celebrations eight UK students via a competition were offered an all-expenses-paid visit to the Falkland Islands in February 2023. Ben Fogle, who headed the judging panel said: “The Falkland Islands really are a magical place. I’ve been lucky enough to visit the Islands many times over the years, drawn back by the unique wildlife. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the liberation of the Islands and to mark the event, we organized this competition.”

  The Government of the Falkland Islands has announced the arrangements for Sunday 13 November 2022, Remembrance Sunday, which on this occasion will be a very special Remembrance service since it will be broadcast live from the Falkland Islands, at 13:35 UK time.

  Commemorative flight for 130 Falklands Veterans and next of kin, first time in the Islands in forty years

  

  Many Veterans and relatives who lost loved ones in the Falklands war are back in the Islands, for the first time in four decades, in a commemorative flight funded by the UK Ministry of Defense. The 130 travelers will mark the conflict's fortieth anniversary Sunday 13 November at Remembrance Day in the City of Stanley.

  Falklands residents demand “local and world leaders tackle climate change”

  

  In the light and spirit of COP27 a group of Falklands residents have organized a demonstration to “demand action from leaders, both locally and worldwide to tackle the natural disasters we currently face,” organizer Mark McLeod told Penguin News. The demonstration will take place at the Jetty Centre at midday on Saturday November 12.
