The cruise ship season is approaching, and the Falkland Islands Government Environment Department and the Falkland Islands Tourist Board (FITB) have been working together to create and implement a set of strict and clear guidelines for operators and tourists visiting the Gypsy Cove and Yorke Bay penguin colonies on cruise ship days.
The Falkland Islands Government with the UK Ministry of Defense is working on bookings and waiting lists for the airbridge, during the month of September and announced the following release, ”Our community will be aware of the current strain on Airbridge flights where all flights are fully booked, and nearly every flight waitlisted. The cancelled and returned flights in late August has added additional pressure on the availability of Airbridge seats.

The Falkland Islands is closer to having a national park in the Hill Cove Mountains to the north of West Falkland. This is the result of a public consultation held by the Falkland Islands Government Environment Department from February to April 2024 on the proposed designation of such a national park.
The Falkland Islands Government has informed that an agreement has been signed with Ascension Island Government to guarantee travelers from the Falkland Islands ten seats on each flight connecting Ascension and St Helena – known as the St Helena Airlink. This agreement removes the risk of travelers from the Falklands not being able to book a seat by guaranteeing availability.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the overseas payment system, Straight to Bank, is experiencing an issue. The Falkland Islands Government are working with Standard Chartered to urgently investigate this issue and an update will be provided as soon as we have more information.
