    “If you have to deny the existence of a people to make your argument work, your argument doesn’t work,” has been the public reply of Falkland Islands lawmaker MLA Teslyn Barkman to the piece of Argentina's foreign minister Diana Mondino addressed to Falkland Islanders, during this week's session of the Special Decolonization Committee, or C24, held at the United Nations, New York.

    Falklands tells Decolonization Committee C24, “Our voice is all that matters”

    The Falklands people are not the UK officials that have administered the Islands. However, Argentina don’t accept this, and requested again to be our colonial masters at the UN C24-decolonisation committee. MLA Short and I attended the UN meeting of the “question of the Falklands” on Tuesday 18th June to point to the obvious - Our voice is all that matters.

    My family had been Falkland Islanders for over 100 years before Argentina first made their claim to the UN.

    A group of elected assembly members from the Falkland Islands presented an address to the United Nations Special Committee on the situation regarding the implementation of the declaration on the granting of independence to colonial countries and peoples.

    Uruguay takes delivery of South Korean-built patrol boat

    The ROU 10 Huracán is to be ferried to Montevideo aboard a merchant ship

    During a ceremony earlier this week at the South Korean Jinhae Naval Base, Uruguay's Navy took delivery of the Chamsuri class ROU 10 Huracán patrol vessel donated by the hosting country. The handover resulted from negotiations undertaken last year by then-Defense Minister Javier García to strengthen the South American country's capabilities to participate in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations as the main focus. South Korea has recently transferred other units to the Navies of Peru and Colombia.

    Argentine President Javier Milei joined the list of dignitaries endorsing the Bürgenstock Declaration in favor of peace in Ukraine while Brazil's Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was among those very few who did not because in his view only negotiations involving both belligerent parties (Ukraine and Russia) were worth considering.
