High ozone levels over Santiago linked to pneumonia rates

Recent Chilean Health Ministry study found ozone levels in the northeast parts of greater Santiago higher than normal during 180 days this year. The study also linked the high levels of ozone in Santiago's atmosphere with increased rates of pneumonia.

Chilean scientists after funds for Antarctic research

Chilean president Michelle Bachelet met for half an hour Thursday afternoon in the presidential palace La Moneda with elected president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. Although old friends this was the first official meeting of the elected president with a foreign leader.

LAN orders record 32 Dreamliners 787 and two B777

Boeing said Monday it had struck a multibillion-dollar deal with Chile's LAN Airlines that includes 32 787 Dreamliners, the largest order for its new plane in Latin America. The order includes 26 of the fuel-efficient Dreamliners and six more leased from International Lease Finance Corp.
