  Falklands: Argentine lawmakers propose two “spaces of confidence” one with UK, the other with Islanders

  

  Argentine lawmakers visiting the UK proposed “generating a space of confidence between Argentina and the UK, and between Argentina and the Islanders, so that in the future a good faith discussion” on the Malvinas Islands sovereignty can be addressed. Likewise additional flights to the Falklands must at some point call in Argentina.

  Argentine lawmakers invited to Britain to meet peers in London and Scotland

  

  A delegation of Argentine lawmakers will be visiting UK beginning Monday invited by the Inter Parliamentary Union, IPU, British chapter, with the purpose of establishing closer links at legislative level with their peers.

  Falklands: Argentine airlines not in the running for a second flight

  

  Only Brazilian or Chilean airlines need apply for a second flight to the Falkland Islands from South America it was indicated in a press briefing given in Stanley at the end of December, after MLAs returned from talks in London.

  Falklands' second flight to South America addressed at talks in London

  

  Argentina and the United Kingdom held in London on Monday the first of a two-day round of talks in the framework of the September joint communiqué with the purpose of improving bilateral relations and cooperation, and advancing in one of the few contentious issues, the Falkland Islands' dispute.

  Malcorra taunted in Congress over the UK/Argentina statement and South Atlantic chapter

  

  A leading ally of President Mauricio Macri's precarious coalition in Congress and chair of the Lower House Foreign Affairs committee, held another special session to address the September UK/Argentina Joint Statement, which she argues is not an “accord or treaty”, but nevertheless strongly questions the South Atlantic chapter which calls for lifting economic sanctions on Falklands' trade, fisheries, connectivity and oil development.

  Falkland Islands' portfolio for Sir Alan Duncan

  

  Alan Duncan KCMG MP has been appointed as Minister of State at the Foreign Office, responsible for Europe and the Americas. He replaces Hugo Swire MP, and will report to the new Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson. Sir Alan (59) remit will include NATO, the Americas, the Falklands, Gibraltar and polar regions.
