  Falklands will celebrate Queen's birthday parade April 21st

  

  On Tuesday 21 April the Falkland Islands will be holding a parade to celebrate the birthday of Queen Elizabeth. Contingents from the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force and the Falklands' Defense Force will form at Stanley's Victory Green, reports Gilbert House, seat of the Falklands' elected Legislative Assembly.

  Falklands historic link to Antarctica exploration unveiled in unique memorial

  

  The Falkland Islands historic link as the gateway for British Antarctic exploration was acknowledged this week with the dedication in Stanley's Dockyard Point of the southern component of a unique memorial to the 28 men and one woman of the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), and before that the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) who have perished in the Antarctic since the establishment by the British Government of the first permanent research base there in 1944.

  Brazilian lawmaker wants closer ties with 'Falklands' and even considers 'a friendship forum'

  

  Brazilian federal Deputy for the southern state of Santa Catarina Celso Maldaner who last week visited the Falkland Islands said he wants to 'influence and push' for a commercial opening of Brazil with the Islands, since he believes there is great potential for making business particularly regarding fisheries and tourism.

  Falklands governor hosts reception for visiting scientists of the Americas

  

  Visiting scientists from “all corners of the Americas” have received a warm welcome to the Falkland Islands. The delegates from the US, Canada, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and Chile are experts in a range of fields including marine ecology, oceanography and geology and are on a week-long visit at the invitation of the Falkland Islands government and the South Atlantic Environmental Research Institute, SAERI.

  Commissioner’s first visit to South Georgia

  

  THE Commissioner of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, Colin Roberts, has just returned from a ten day trip to South Georgia. The visit was the Commissioner’s first to the island and the initial port of call was King Edward Point (KEP), the seat of administration on the island.
