    Falklands to mark liberation from Argentine occupation on Saturday 14 June

    Following a thanksgiving service at the Cathedral, there will be a ceremony and wreath laying at the Liberation Monument

    To mark the anniversary of the liberation of the Falkland Islands from Argentine occupation in 1982, a program of activities has been arranged for Saturday 14 June 2014, beginning with a Thanksgiving Service to be held at Christ Church Cathedral commencing at 9.45 am, according to a release from Gilbert House.

    Falkland Islands former Governor Nigel Haywood CVO departed the Islands on Tuesday and his successor, Colin Roberts CVO, is not expected to take up his post before late April. In the interim, John Duncan OBE has been designated as acting Governor of the Falkland Islands and acting Commissioner of South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands.
