Fresh back from the Falkland Islands where he spent a week, Argentina's former vice-president and currently lawmaker Julio Cleto Cobos calls for closer links with the Islands, and insists that the “Malvinas Experience” (“Vivir Malvinas”) challenge should not be banned to nobody, rather the contrary.

Falklands becomes launching pad for Argentine presidential hopeful campaign

The Argentine 2015 presidential campaign has reached the Falkland Islands. Presidential hopeful and former Vice-president Julio Cleto Cobos is currently visiting the Falklands where he arrived on Saturday on the Lan Chile weekly flight and will spend the rest of the week in the Islands.

Cristina Fernández blasts UK and NATO on Malvinas invasion anniversary

Argentine President Cristina Fernández on the 32nd anniversary of the Malvinas Islands invasion by Argentine forces which triggered war (and defeat) with the UK, questioned the British government for not abiding by UN resolutions calling for Falklands sovereignty talks and suggested UK should be less involved in wars and more in looking after its own people.

Malvinas Families wish to have a chapel at Darwin cemetery and requested the “Pope's mediation”

The Malvinas war next of kin are trying to have a chapel or a sanctuary built at the Darwin cemetery, in the Falkland Islands where the remains of 237 Argentine combatants are buried. The idea is to convert “this space in dispute in a peregrination place”, according to a report from the Argentine official news agency Telam.

Falklands: Timerman says Red Cross will help with identification of remains at Darwin cemetery

Foreign minister Hector Timerman said that the International Committee of the Red Cross will help with the identification of Argentine soldiers killed during the Falklands/Malvinas war and whose remains are still in the territory claimed by Argentina. The UK would be informed at a later stage on the matter.

Malvinas war veteran plans to visit Falklands cemeteries with a message from Francis

Pope Francis blessed crucifixes and rosaries which will be taken to the Argentine and British cemeteries in the Falkland Islands by an Argentine war veteran. The Pope during the blessings called for peace “among the peoples” of the world.
