  China October exports contract, first time since 2020; global recession reaching Asian super power

  

  With an economy still gripped by strict lockdown measures, Chinese exports contracted in October for the first time since the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic. Exports in dollar terms fell 0.3 percent year on year last month, official data showed, compared with an economists’ forecast of 4.5% growth and a 5.7% gain in September. The figure last fell in May 2020.

  In the first seven months of this year, Paraguayan exports totaled US$ 5,8 billion and involved 136 countries. Data from the country’s Ministry of Finance show Brazil (36%) and Argentina (24.9%) as the main buyers, which added to Uruguay, Mercosur represents 63.1% of foreign sales.

  Argentina has recorded a sharp increase in intra-Mercosur exports, with trade reaching its highest figures in 7 years, it was reported in Buenos Aires. Intra-Mercosur trade during 2021 reached US$ 41 billion and achieved the highest value since 2014, while Argentine exports to the bloc exceeded US$ 14 billion, according to the CXXIII Meeting of the Common Market Group (GMC) in Asunción.

  Exports of Peruvian manufacturers during the year 2021 have surpassed pre COVID-19 pandemic levels, it was reported Wednesday by the Institute of Economic and Social Studies (IEES) of the National Society of Industries (SNI).
